A Yo-Yo Quilt

Yes, I'm fully aware that I'm not the only American obsessed with winning this year's HGTV Dream Home. After watching the tv special last week I have become even more obsessed. I am especially fond of the guest room featuring a beautiful yo-yo quilt (not sure if this is what it's really called, but it's what I'm naming it).
I do believe I've seen a quilt like this before somewhere in my grandmother's house (her house is a museum from the 50's/60's/70's) and always thought it was funky and kinda cool. Then a few weeks ago I was lurking about on other people's blogs and came across this on Heather Bailey's blog. Side note: her blog is freakin awesome. I actually made one of these out of some old scrap fabric and it was very easy. Although I'm sure making 500 of them for a quilt would be somewhat annoying. I might just be willing to try it though if I knew it would turn out as awesome as the one above. Ahh...now if I could only find the motivation...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this quilt and plan to attempt to make one for myself. It's so funky and modern yet at the same time looks like something you could curl up under with a good book.
